HMP Wandsworth Prison Video Officer captured Scandal Viral on Social Media
HMP Wandsworth recently shut down the internet after a video of an alleged prison guard having sex with an inmate in one of the cells went viral.
The video has been shared thousands of times and viewed by millions of people online. Police quickly launched an investigation into the video, which appeared to have been shot by another inmate. Officers arrested and detained Linda De Sousa Abreu, 30, from Fulham, south-west London, for misconduct in a public office, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.
The prison was the subject of a recent scandal that made national headlines when suspected terrorist Daniel Khalife escaped from prison, sparking a manhunt that gripped the country in September. The 22-year-old ex-soldier, who worked in the prison's kitchen before escaping, is said to have tied himself to the bottom of a food truck with a torn sheet.
During filming, a prisoner who filmed the attempt joked: "This is how we live in Wandsworth. But police and prison chiefs are now investigating the four-and-a-half-minute film, which was filmed at Britain's second-largest prison in south London.
Troubled HMP Wandsworth hit the headlines last summer after the alleged escape from remand Daniel Khalife - who apparently chained himself to a food truck - sparked a huge manhunt.
